Hi! My name is Grayson Donohoe, and I’m currently a student at the University of Mary Washington studying history and secondary education.

On this site, you can find links to my work I’ve completed from both my history and education classes. I have a few digital history projects with various purposes from research projects on 20th century American history topics to community outreach projects that I’ve done here at Mary Washington, all of which can be found under the ‘History Projects’ tab. To find more of my teaching materials, go to the ‘Teaching Portfolio’ tab. Here you can find some of the lesson plans and materials I’ve created throughout my educational career. A few of these lessons I’ve taught to middle school classes, but some you will find are mock lessons from my education courses. I included these because while I haven’t had the chance to teach students, such as Emergent Bilinguals, throughout my college career I’ve gained those skills and strategies in the classroom.

I have a passion teaching social studies because it’s not just all memorizing times, places, dates, and names – when social studies is taught well, students LIGHT UP. I live for the moments where students are excited about coming to class and learning something new each day, and I aim to create an environment where students know that what they bring to the table matters. Learning things like history and government don’t just inform our young people about the events that make up our past, but it empowers students with the skills and tools to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, creators, storytellers, writers, researchers, and future leaders.
